" Life Below Stairs as it Really Was " Oh my Lord, what an incredible read. I finished this book with both a laugh and a tear. What a story teller. Not to dwell on the odd and grotesque but I learnt what is was like to have to prepare the grouse after they had been hanging for two weeks. That and so many fascinating little bits of everyday life. About everything, cooking, being in service, people, horses. Don't tell Katherine but this will be in her Christmas stocking. What a treat.
