These are Bettie's blueberries. Beautiful tall bushes that you hardly have to bend over to pick. We each filled an ice cream pale in an hour. She'd said the fruit is really setting heavy this year so maybe a long winter ahead. With berries like this we're not worried. Call her on the cell, she's not in the house these days, and get over to her place for just the most enjoyable evening you'll have in an age. 250-402-9812.

Every year Sylvia and Dave invite friends over to pick cherries before opening it up to the harvest share crew. Katherine had me out of the sack at 6 this morning to get at it. Nice way to spend a morning but I wouldn't cut it a real picker. The valley is lucky to have the French kids come out here to do that hard work. This is one of our favorite little mini holidays. They serve up a lovely breakfast or lunch. Great coffee and a really healthy juice bar.
