Calgary. Crown Surplus was a favorite stop as I worked my way east from B.C. in the mid 80's. I'd head north from here to begin work on the forestry towers every summer. It's still a little bit funky. The developers are moving in so enjoy it while you can. They'll push all the weird out before long leaving nothing but new, trendy and expencive. Tragic what they do.

Stash Knitting Lounge. Check out this great shop located in Inglewood. Alive and overflowing with the most eclectic selection of colourfull wool and yarn you'll ever find anywere. Oh, check out http://www.stashlounge.com/ Early call out. Tanker 81 is the first machine on contract. Departed Red Deer in snow flurries and 0'C for Kamloops at 16'C. Those rocks are a true barrier. Off the east coast when the fellas went whaling for 2 to 3 years no one recieved any wages. Instead they were all on shares, or lays. Theres still a bit of that what with being gone for the summer and some earnings based on the number of hours the aircraft flies. Just a hint of those old times left which I think is kinda cool. Made it back to the Sunny Side Flea Market. What truly delicious fresh food. I think her business card says it best. They're working on a huge repair aft of the #2 engine. Every piece is custom made. The number of parts that have to all come together and the hours of work to make it all happen is staggering. We may think the craftsman dissapeared with the mass production that was part of the industrial revolution. Not. Craftsmanship is alive and well here at Air Spray. My hats off to the these guys and their incredible workmanship. |
