I'd say this last fall/winter we've seen at least four orchards in the valley go under the axe. Four I know of. It's next to impossible to compete with the cherries coming out of Washington state. Well, that and it's a ton of work and a lot of the orchardists are getting older. Some are replanting to mixed soft fruits, some to grapes. It's an interesting time here. Please buy B.C. fruit.
