Someone please tell me how it is that these absolutely boring creams and browns have come into vogue. These apartments used to be a lovely rusty red in colour. It is now so pathetically boring. What is happening to us. Have we collectively lost what little taste we had. Two building here in town that used to be a classic mediteranian blue and white. Both now turd brown. It just makes me want to gag. Please. Lets bring back the bold and oh so beautiful primaries. Well you don't always spot a Heron, Owl or Pileated. Katherine saw this little sausage in the grass out past the Elk Island walk. It made me think of The Wind in the Willows. Terry Jones did such a brilliant reading. What a story. I mean who will ever write that again. Those times seem as if behind us now. That love and joy of the simplest pleasures that nature has to offer. All but gone as we destroy our biodiversity on the way to global oneness. Tomatoes. Oh but they are so good this time of year. Katherine's made us a tasty soup and no knead bread covered with these lovely vine ripened beauties. This is from a case we purchased of Kevin's at Fooby's. 25 to 99 Lbs. $ 1.25 / Lb or just go for it, 100+ Lbs $ 1.00 / Lb.. Keep an eye on their face book as all the fall crops are just now starting to roll in. It's been another brilliant year for peaches here in Creston. The warm, dry June really did wonders for all the soft fruits this year. The only real problem with peaches is that when they come to an end we're into tomatoes. Nothing better than fresh field tomatoes, it's just that Katherine tends to buy them by the case. There are some really good reads here. Only 4.50 each or 4 for $ 15. Not a bad deal. You probably reconize a lot of the titles. Some best sellers that we just have to many of. The Pilots Wife, Eat, Pray, Love. Stones into Schools, The Memory Keepers Daughter. White Tiger, Family Matters, Game of Thrones. Some old classics as well. Accidental Tourist, Peoples Guide to Mexico, Stone Diaries. Good reads for the beach at a fair price. That's us. That's why Katherine is smiling. We're back up in the hills picking huckleberries. The day before hot and dry and today she had us picking in a thunder storm. Didn't last to long and it cooled us off so I'd best not complain. Oh, and a solid three weeks earlier than last year. Good little patch too. As always a fun way to spend an hour or two. Our costumers have been good enough to take the time to fill in these little cards telling you why they enjoyed a particular book. You'll find them throughout the shop. You go first thing in the morning, the roosters are crowing back and forth. You can hear the morning doves. Nice and cool. You can pick a third of a tote in no time.
